Aerovironment’s Puma unmanned air vehicle has flown continuously for over 7h using the US fuel cell company Protonex’s ProCore UAV system.
This is a significant step forward and will lead to UAV propulsion engines that do not depend on fossil fuels or combustion, this can only be seen as a disruptive technology in the current market place and will quickly lead to the replacement of combustion based propulsion technologies for UAV airframes requiring 1000 lb. thrust or less.
